How GPA is calculated
Each letter grade converts to grade points on a 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, and so on, with +/- adjustments). Your GPA is the total grade points earned grade points times credit hours, summed across all courses divided by your total credit hours.
Grade point scale used
A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D- = 0.7, F = 0.0
FAQ
Does my school use the same scale?
Most US colleges use this standard 4.0 scale, but some weight A+ higher than 4.0, or use different +/- values. Check your school's official policy if you need an exact match.
Can I calculate my cumulative GPA across multiple semesters?
Yes just add every course from every semester as a row, and the calculator will compute your overall weighted GPA.
