Two calculators in one

The "Days Between Dates" tab tells you how many calendar days separate two dates useful for figuring out how long ago something happened, how many days until an anniversary, or how long a project or contract has run. The "Add/Subtract Days" tab does the reverse: give it a starting date and a number of days, and it tells you exactly what date that lands on, including the day of the week handy for deadlines, return windows, or any "X days from now" calculation.

Calendar days, not business days

This calculator counts every calendar day, including weekends and holidays it does not skip non-business days. That's the right choice for things like a rental period, a warranty length, or a pregnancy due date estimate (commonly calculated as 280 days from the first day of the last period), where every day counts. For more granular time calculations, try our free time calculator for hours and minutes. For contract terms or shipping estimates that specifically use business days, you'll need to manually exclude weekends and holidays, since those vary by company and country.

How the day count works

The days-between count reflects the actual number of days that separate the two dates you enter the same number you'd get counting on a calendar, not including the starting date itself. That matches how most deadlines are phrased: if a task is "due in 14 days" starting today, the calculator will show 14 when you set the end date accordingly. For workday tracking, check our free hours calculator to convert days to hours for payroll or project billing.

Does this account for leap years?

Yes the calculation is based on actual calendar dates, so leap years (like 2028) are automatically handled correctly, even across ranges that span multiple years. To calculate exact age including leap-year birthdays, use our free age calculator for precise age calculations.

FAQ

Does it count the start and end date?
"Days Between Dates" counts the full days between the two dates, not including the start date itself the same way you'd count days until a deadline.

Can I calculate dates far in the past or future?
Yes, there's no practical limit you can calculate across any range of years.

Does this calculator skip weekends and holidays?
No it counts every calendar day, including weekends and holidays. If you need business-day-only counts, you'll need to exclude non-business days manually, since which days count as "business days" varies by company and country.

Can I use this to estimate a due date?
Yes the Add/Subtract Days tab can add a fixed number of days to a start date, which is how one common due-date estimate (280 days from the last period) is calculated. This is a general date calculation, not medical advice always confirm timelines with a healthcare provider.

What day of the week does a calculated date fall on?
The Add/Subtract Days result includes the full weekday name along with the date, so you don't need to look it up separately.

Can I calculate the days between two dates in different years?
Yes there's no limit on the range; the calculation works the same whether the two dates are days apart or decades apart.
